Technology

In the United States and around the world, many kids in their pre-teen and teenage years have become strongly addicted and dependent on technology. Whether it might be going on the computer, using their cellphone, or watching TV. All of these kinds of media makes everyone just more addicted and makes it harder to try to not use it as much. I am not afraid or ashamed to say that I am one of those people who are addicted to media such as my cellphone and my computer. Not just that, but I do watch a lot of TV as well, so that makes me even more addicted. But, I mean I could live without using my cellphone and computer, but its just a TV in which I can't. I really do consume a lot of media daily, about 4 or more hours, but I don't just stay inside all day texting on my phone or on the Internet.

I usually do the same routine almost everyday once I get home from school on weekdays: get home, do my homework, eat, watch TV, go on the computer, sometimes go outside, sometimes read for like half an hour or more, then watch TV again, and go to sleep. Ever since I've been using so much media everyday, whether its listening to music on my iPod or something like that, I've realized I've become lazy. I also became a little lazy when one of my cousins or siblings asks me to go play something outside like throwing a football or playing Frisbee. In a lot of articles that I found on the Internet, many of them said that technology makes kids become inactive when they use it. I totally agree with this because it has also made me inactive, but not completely inactive. So, there are some positive things to using technology, but there are more negative effects on you.

Justin Bieber

Yes, it is time to talk about the new pop kid, Justin Bieber. This 16 year-old boy is known around the world, especially by girls everywhere. Everywhere he goes, there is always young girls from the ages of just 5-16 always screaming and yelling for him. Of course he's cute, but that's all he is. His music is good as well, but he's not hot or anything like that to me. Now, he's not making anymore songs because he's probably busy making a new album or something, but I think that once he does come out with another song, there will be girls with "Bieber Fever", as they say.

Anyways, Justin Bieber was born in Canada on March 1, 1994. Once he was about ten or eleven, Usher, who knew Justin before he became famous, signed him. Since about a year or a couple of months ago, he has become a pop sensation to all girls all over the world. No matter where he goes, whether its a concert, to a meeting, an award show, the airport, or anything like that, there is always a bunch of screaming fans calling for him. Ever since his first song, "One Time", came out on the radio, a lot of screaming fans started to become more and more interested in him and his music. Just like that, his song became number one very fast on radio stations and music websites. But there was a lot of girls that were especially interested in him, and not so much his music.

His first album that came out was called, My World, and it instantly became a hit. It reached number 1 on the top ten albums and on other music websites. Many of his other songs like One Less Lonely Girl, Love Me, and of course, One Time, still became and remained popular on a lot of radio stations like Z100. Recently this year, he came out with his second album, My World 2.0, (a continuation of his first album.) I really do like the music on that album more than his first album. The songs that I like on My World 2.0 is Somebody to Love, Eenie Meenie, Up, That Should Be Me, and Baby. The song, Baby, also became a hit just like his song One Time. Even though I'm not one of those girls who goes crazy over Justin Bieber, his music is good, but I don't like him that much as much as I like his music.

Beat Street Movie Review

Here is a picture from Beat Street:

Recently, I have watched a movie from 1980's that was called Beat Street. It was basically a movie about how hip-hop originated back then when New York's crime rate was really high. This was also a time when graffiti became very popular and hip hop culture began. But, it is really about a young DJ named Kenny who lives with his younger brother Lee (who is in a break dancing group) and his mother in the slums of Bronx where it was really dangerous to live because of the crime rates there. Kenny's dream is to become a famous hip-hop DJ and to play in nightclubs that are in Manhattan and to really become famous. Anyways, it also tells how his friend, Ramon, also wants his graffiti art work to be on every subway car in their area and Kenny developing a relationship with a girl named Tracy, who lives in a completely different world than Kenny.

This movie, Beat Street, which was really made in 1984, was a bad movie in my opinion. Not only that, but from the parts that I saw, I even thought some of the acting was bad as well. I mean, it really wasn't interesting for me to watch at all and I seriously wanted to sleep while I was watching it too because it was so boring and dumb. When I was watching Beat Street, all I could think of was "When is this movie gonna be over?" But, the movie wasn't completely bad. I thought that the dancing and singing was pretty good, but that's all. The rest of the movie was just terrible and I do not like it at all.

Facebook

As everyone knows, Facebook is a widely used networking site that is used around the world. Since there are a lot of people that use it, it is a good way to talk and connect with people you know over the computer. For example, I use Facebook to talk to some of my family members in Albania. So, this website is very helpful and useful to me. Anyways, I use Facebook almost everyday because there are a lot of features that you can use so that you always have something to do and don't get easily bored.

An example of this is that there is a status box where you can post a status about whatever your doing at anytime you want. Another cool feature is that you have a live feed on your home page so that is there is any activity that your friends are doing, such as posting a status, you can see that on your page. Another thing that it is cool is that you can also play games such as racing games, brain busters, and a lot more. Something else that you can do on it is take different kinds of quizzes about different topics including celebrities, personality quizzes, music quizzes, and others.

Another useful tool on Facebook is that on the bottom corner of the page, you have a status bar where it tells you who and how many people are online in your buddy list. When you click their name, you can talk to them and do whatever you want. The weird thing about this website is that when I'm bored on Facebook, I still stay online if there is nothing on TV or if I don't go outside or visit my relatives. Even though Facebook is cool and useful to talk to your friends and family, it is still dangerous as well.

Since you could post pictures and have a profile picture and everything, you never know who might see it and what they could do. So, I suggest that everyone keeps their profile and pictures private. But, overall, I like Facebook because its a really good way to connect and stay connected with your friends and family no matter where they are. But people really have to be careful with what they post on it and what they say on Facebook because it might be dangerous an you never know who is gonna see it.

Muse

As my first music post, I've decided to write about my favorite band: Muse. I know that there are many people who don't know who Muse is, but if you've listened to the Twilight and New Moon Soundtrack, you would know who they are or probably heard of them. By the way, that's how I first heard of them. Or if you knew them before there songs were Twilight, then you have a great taste in music too. Anyways, Muse is a band that has been around for a long time; since the 1990's, but suddenly became more popular in the U.S.A. for their songs in the Twilight Saga Soundtracks.
For me, once I heard one song by them,(which was Uprising), I immediately fell in love with them. Not only that, but they had completely changed my taste and stlye in music. I used to dislike Rock and that type, but now, I love it! I also love Muse! The unique thing about this three-man band is that they're not only British, but they're music is awesome. Their songs aren't just one genre of music, its of many types such as Rock, Progressive Rock, Alternative Rock, Metal, and more in that range of Rock which is also great.
Some of my favorite songs, which I suggest others should listen to, is Uprising, Resistance, Time is Running Out, MK Ultra, their newest song Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever), Starlight, and a lot more. Ever since I've started to like the Rock genre of music, I've also started to like other bands including Green Day and Paramore. Everytime I hear a new song, they never seem to disappoint me. Okay, all I'm trying to say is that Muse is an awesome band and I'm sure that anyone who listens to different Rock types of music, should definetely listen to them. They are a great band and would still continue to be one, which would be always.

If your curious or interested in listening to them, hear are some music videos by Muse:
